Current Rules and Requirements
USA Wrestling requires all coaches to have a current USA Wrestling leader membership card. In order to obtain a wrestling leader membership card, you will be required to complete SafeSport training, and a biennal background check.

Additional RIWA Tournament Coaching Requirements
In addition to having an ACTIVE USA wrestling leader card, by January 1st of each season, all coaches at RIWA events must additionally have a copper or bronze USA Wrestling coaching certification. The copper and bronze coaching certifications only require taking the course once in a lifetime. Upon entry to ALL RIWA events, any individual that wants to coach in the corner will need to obtain a coaching wristband at each event. There is no cost for a coaches wristband and entry to RIWA sanctioned events for coaches is at no cost, however, you must show you USA wrestling leader membership at the door to obtain this needed wristband. After January 1st of each season, your wreslting leader membership card must show that you habe completed the copper or bronze certifications in order to receive a coaching wristband and free entry.
NO ONE without a coaches wristband will be permitted in the corner to coach. NO EXCEPTIONS!
